Have you picked up The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom yet? If you have, then you're far from alone. Nintendo has confirmed that the latest entry in the long-running Zelda series managed to rack up a whopping 10 million sales within its first three days on release.

Earlier today, Nintendo tweeted an announcement for the sales milestone, confirming Tears of the Kingdom's impressive sales figures. The game is now the fastest-selling title in the Zelda franchise, beating contenders like the N64's Ocarina of Time and the Wii's Twilight Princess.

If you've been watching the gaming charts in the last few days, Tears of the Kingdom's success probably won't come as a surprise to you. After all, the game shot to number one in the UK sales charts last week, and it's been hard to avoid Tears of the Kingdom fever on social media as well. Still, 10 million copies within just a few days ain't bad.

To put Tears of the Kingdom's sales into perspective, From Software's megahit Elden Ring racked up 20 million sales within its first year, while Hogwarts Legacy managed 15 million before launching on last-gen consoles. Those games are multi-platform releases, though, while Tears of the Kingdom is a Switch exclusive. It's still early days in the game's release cycle, too, so expect this one to grow and grow.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the latest entry in the Zelda franchise. A direct sequel to 2017's Breath of the Wild, it sees Link exploring Hyrule and the sky above it in order to put a stop to Ganondorf's machinations. The game places a greater emphasis on building and crafting than its predecessor, allowing Link to build contraptions and machines organically out of many elements in the world.

You can grab Tears of the Kingdom on Switch right now. Why not take a look at our guides if you're just getting started in Hyrule?
