Are you watching all the Animal Crossing shenanigans and wishing there was a game very similar to Nintendo's offering but not quite the same? Then your oddly specific tastes are in luck. Team17 is partnering with developer Wonderscope Games to publish Hokko Life, a colorful animal-based life sim for PC.
In Hokko Life, you'll explore the vibrant titular town, crafting items and creating new things along the way. There's plenty of customization in the form of switching up your outfit and your interior decor, but you can also head out into the town to fish, hunt bugs, and farm. Hokko Life will offer you the chance to share your furniture and clothing designs with other players in the game, too. You can check out a trailer for Hokko Life right here:
The trailer shows off Hokko Life's cartoony art style, which is definitely not similar in any way to Animal Crossing's. There'll be a whole town full of animal residents you can talk to and complete requests for, by the looks of things. Also shown off in the trailer are the town and interior building mechanics, which allow you to move houses around and decorate interiors as you see fit. The player character is shown mining for rocks, planting fruits and vegetables in a front garden, and designing some clothing. Looks like this one will scratch your itch if you're after something like Animal Crossing but you don't own a Switch or you irrationally hate Isabelle.
Hokko Life will launch for PC via Steam sometime in 2020. We'll bring you more on a concrete release date as and when we get it. In the meantime, you can keep up with Hokko Life by checking out the developer's official website. If you'll excuse us, we're off to send passive-aggressive letters to people's Animal Crossing towns from Hokko.
