There's bad news for people who pre-ordered Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl from Target: the Target Pokemon journals aren't going to be shipped out due to supply chain issues.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are remakes of the 2006 Nintendo DS games Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. The remakes were announced earlier this year during a Pokemon Presents presentation alongside Pokemon Legends: Arceus, a game that we learned more about back in September. Naturally, quite a few people have pre-ordered the game from retailers, but Target has just announced that it's had to cancel a unique physical pre-order bonus.

Why the Target Pokemon Journals Aren't Being Shipped

The Target Pokemon journals aren't being shipped due to the supply chain issues that have been plaguing the world in recent months. Simply put, these unique pre-order items won't be arriving in time.

Customers on Twitter and ResetEra said that they've received an e-mail from the company stating that the journals won't be delivered; instead, each pre-order customer will get a $20 Target gift card. Here's what the reported e-mail said:

Due to supply chain challenges and delays, we had to cancel the free Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Pokemon Shining Pearl Journal from your order [Order Number]. We're deeply sorry for any inconvenience this cancellation may cause. Rest assured you have not been charged for the canceled item and you will still receive Pokemon: Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Double Pack for Nintendo Switch.

Please accept our apologies, along with a $20 Target eGiftCard you can use online or in stores. You can expect this Target eGiftCard to arrive in your inbox within 24 hours (limit of one gift card per guest).

Thank you for your understanding, and thank you for being our guest.

We've reached out to Target for comment on this matter and we'll update this article when we receive a reply. For now, you can still pre-order Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl for Nintendo Switch via its official website; each game will cost you $59.99 or your regional equivalent. You can look forward to these Pokemon remakes launching on November 19, 2021.

Are you disappointed that the Target Pokemon journals aren't going to make it to customers? What's your favorite pre-order bonus from a recent game you've bought? Let us know in the comments below!
