Tales from the Borderlands

In a world where release dates are built up for months on end, one company dares to be different, Telltale Games. Instead of properly setting up the release date, letting everyone hype and go crazy in anticipation, Telltale Games just said before the end of the year… and then nonchalantly let it drop that Tales from the Borderlands would release today.

That is, Episode One (Zer0 Sum), is getting released today on PC/Mac via Steam and the Telltale website worldwide, and on PS3 and PS4 in North America. The Xbox One will release tomorrow worldwide, and on December 3rd European PS 3 and PS 4 owners as well as Xbox 360 owners will be able to get the game. To further confuse the mess, Android and iOS versions are also on the way – sometime before the end of the year.

Tales from the Borderlands is part of Telltale’s rush for the end of the year, as its highly anticipated Game of Thrones game will be coming in December, along with winter.

Tales from the Borderlands takes place after Borderlands 2 on the world of Pandora and follows the story of two characters that you play as. Rhys, works for the Hyperion Corporation and has his eye on the void filled by the death of Handsome Jack. Well, his cybernetic eye at least as Rhys has biomechanical upgrades all over that open up avenues for him that others wouldn’t have. He isn’t the only one with his eye on that job within Pandora though and there’s going to be competition for him.

Fiona, though is not one of them. She’s a con-artist, grifter, or whatever other term you want to use for those who play on people’s insecurity’s. Pandora though is a world she’s mostly played out, coning all the people she can and is planning one last, great con. However what seemed like an easy mark is going to prove to be more difficult than she ever imagined.

Like Telltale’s other games, Tales from the Borderlands will be an interactive fiction with a lot of choices in it that have consequences throughout the season. Choices shape how people view the characters, what options open and what will happen in your experience of Tales from the Borderlands.

Tales from the Borderlands is available now at Greenman Gaming, Gamersgate, and Steam. You can view a trailer of it below.
