While everyone might still be in the middle of planning their festive holiday-themed Dungeons & Dragons one-shots to share with friends (or to try to drag hesitant family members into), it's also a good time to look towards the future. Today Critical Role and Darrington Press have announced the release date for the Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn sourcebook.

Back in July, the sourcebook was originally announced but we now know that you'll be able to get your hands on this book on January 18th, 2022. From the minds of Matthew Mercer, Hannah Rose, and James J. Haeck, delve deeper into Tal'Dorei, a setting from the Critical Role liveplay show. Previously, the original Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting allowed players to create their own stories in the world of Exandria, but with a new update players will be able to learn more about the Tal'Dorei location, denizens, creatures, and character options.

Additional contributions have been added to the Tal'Dorei Compaign Setting Reborn sourcebook by cast and founding members of Critical Role as well as John Stavropoulos and Aabria Iyengar.

Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn

A Dungeons & Dragons sourcebook might not give players a full adventure and storyline to follow but fleshes out the world within. If you're looking to pick up this book to run a linear adventure with 'minimal' additional input, instead you'll get a number of story hooks depending on different locations to fuel your campaign. The book will include the following:

  • Guides to the regions of Tal'Dorei
  • New character options including 9 subclasses and 5 character backgrounds
  • Vestiges of Divergence, legendary artifacts that grow with their wielders (Not too dissimilar to the Dragon Horde items from Fizban's Treasury of Dragons)
  • Plenty of monsters to fill the world
  • Updated stat blocks for members of Vox Machina
  • A 18'x24' poster map of Tal'Dorei

This sourcebook will be available form the Darrington Press Guild stores and Critical Role shops before going to local hobby and games shops. If you're after a more complete package there will also be a deluxe edition from Beadle & Grimms that will also include within it player handouts, battle maps, a GM screen, and more.
