A listing has appeared on Taiwan's Digital Game Rating Committee board for an Ubisoft game titled Immortals: Fenyx Rising. It's likely that this is the new name Ubisoft has chosen for upcoming mythology-themed adventure Gods & Monsters.
What do we know about Immortals: Fenyx Rising?
Thanks to a Ubisoft interview with Eurogamer, we know that Gods & Monsters was in the running for a name change. The studio said it would offer a new look at Gods & Monsters' gameplay this summer, at which point it would also be getting a new name. Ubisoft has also confirmed that the protagonist of Gods & Monsters will be called Fenyx, so it's looking pretty inevitable that Immortals: Fenyx Rising is the new name for Gods & Monsters.
Thanks to a Gods & Monsters dev build leaking earlier this year, as well as Ubisoft's own descriptions of Gods & Monsters, we have a solid idea of what gameplay will look like. It'll be a "storybook adventure" set in a world of Greek mythology. As hero Fenyx, you must embark on a journey to the Isle of the Blessed in order to battle Typhon and fulfil your destiny as a hero.
Gods & Monsters - or Immortals: Fenyx Rising - will offer "tricky puzzles, mysterious dungeons, and heroic feats", and will reportedly feature a climbing system similar to that featured in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This makes a lot of sense; the world of Greek mythology is full of massive creatures and structures, so without some way to climb them, Fenyx would likely have trouble getting around.
The next Ubisoft Forward presentation, at which Ubisoft will reveal more about its slate of upcoming titles, will premiere in September (thanks, GamesRadar). It's very likely we'll get another look at Gods & Monsters there, and that the new name change will become official too. As ever, stay tuned; we'll bring you more on Immortals: Fenyx Rising (or Gods & Monsters) as we get it.
