Redemption Reapers

Today Binary Haze Interactive and Adglobe shared a new gameplay trailer of the upcoming tactics JRPG Redemption Reapers.

The trailer focuses on introducing the gameplay mechanics that we'll have to master in order to push back the Mort and save humanity in this dark fantasy game.

We get to see how some of the members of the Ashen Hawk band fight, including Sarah, Glenn, Lugh, Urs, and Karren. The trailer then continues to explain how the turn-based system works, including the use of action points, cooperative position-based follow-up attacks, character-specific skills, special attacks, character progression, equipment, enemies, and more.

On top of the trailer, we also get a specific release date. Redemption Reapers will launch for PS4, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch on February 23, 2023. A physical release will follow at a later time in late April. We also learn the pricing, which will be $49.99.

You can check out the trailer below. If you'd rather hear the Japanese voices, you can also listen to them in the Japanese version of the video. You can also check out the original announcement with the first trailer.

Redemption Reapers is developed by the same team behind the dark fantasy action JRPG Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights and the pedigree is certainly visible. The game is also directed by Masayuki Horikawa, whom you may know for his work on the Fire Emblem series including Thracia 776, The Binding Blade, The Blazing Blade, Path of Radiance, Shadow Dragon, Awakening, and Fates.

The music is by Rei Kondoh, who worked on the Bayonetta series and the Fire Emblem series, while the scenario is written by Tomokazu Fukushima, known for his work on the Metal Gear Solid series.

If the names behind the game and what we've seen so far are an indication, Redemption Reapers has the potential to be a real treat for JRPG fans.
