The System Shock remake is going to be published by Koch Media and Embracer Group's new label Prime Matter. We've also learned more details about System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition.

While Nightdive Studios' System Shock remake has hit a few speedbumps, the developer has continued to work on it alongside some other projects. These include the porting of System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition to the Kex Engine and a TV show in the works. Now, we've also learned that Nightdive Studios has picked up a new publisher.

Prime Matter is a relatively new game publisher that was revealed earlier this year by Koch Media (and consequently, its parent company Embracer Group). It has quite a few games already out the door or planned for the future such as Gungrave G.O.R.E., Dolmen, and Crossfire: Legion -- and now, it will count System Shock remake among its projects. This partnership is good news for fans of the franchise, too. According to a recent Backer Update on Kickstarter, this will allow for a simultaneous release on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.

What Else is Happening With the System Shock Remake?

The good news about the System Shock remake doesn't end with a new publisher -- we've also learned some more details about the beta and the status of System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition and VR.

Let's start with the remake: all backers will still get their promised rewards. Furthermore, Nightdive Studios says that it's on track to deliver the beta to qualifying Backers in early 2022.

As for System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition, development is continuing apace on that project as well. Currently, the devs have a goal of releasing it during the same window as the System Shock remake.

Our news about this hotly-anticipated revival ends with an article over at PC Gamer which has over a dozen new screenshots to check out. For now, you can add the System Shock remake to your wishlist on Steam and you can learn more about the game (and Nightdive's other projects) on its official website.
