The Surviving the Aftermath Steam release has arrived following one year of Early Access on the Epic Games Store. Update 11 has also arrived, adding quests and building on the ten updates that the game has received thus far.

Surviving the Aftermath is the second game in Paradox's Surviving franchise following 2018's release of Surviving Mars. The game originally launched on the Epic Games Store with a one-year exclusivity deal. That period has now ended, finally bringing the game to Steam and launching Update 11 alongside a trailer that details some of the new content on the way.

What's New in Surviving the Aftermath Update 11?

The first major content drop coinciding with the Surviving the Aftermath Steam release is Update 11. This update adds 17 quests to the game for players to complete.

Quests typically start within the colony, but they won't remain there; typically, players will have to head out into the world. Some quests can be completed in one phase, but other quests will have several steps for players to complete on the World Map. Better rewards can be earned in some situations by using a certain type of Specialist.

In addition to quests, 7 new overlays are launching, each of which provides the player with valuable information:

  1. Normal Mode
  2. Building Health
  3. Building Type
  4. Deposits
  5. Water
  6. Energy
  7. Living Entities
  8. Pollution

These new overlays replace the pollution button and will provide players with color-coded information. For example, the "Building Type" overlay highlights all of your different types of buildings, each of which have their own color on the map. Some of these overlays will be activated automatically depending on player actions.

The last major addition to the Surviving the Aftermath Steam release is some updates to the World Map. Sectors are much larger now and will have more than one location within them. Specialists also scavenge locations in a new way — Specialists may have to remain at particularly large locations to get everything through scavenging, but that also runs the risk of taking damage every turn. Players can cancel a scavenge if they don't want to take the risk.
