Today, Ironward has announced The Red Solstice 2: Survivors, the sequel to the top-down action strategy game The Red Solsticewhich was released in 2015.

Set 117 years after the destruction of Earth, corporations now rush to secure a position of dominance over the last colonies and overall vestiges of the human race. Featuring 8-player cooperative multiplayer, players will be able to join other campaigns or combat missions or invite other players to theirs. This will also include player's own research and resources, which can be brought over as players fight against the STROL virus as they struggle to save humanity.

There are 8 unique classes with unique gameplay styles and skills. Players will use these classes to combat a sapient spreading biomass that changes the environment to suit its own whims. There will a base that players can use to customize and help their characters grow throughout the course of the campaign, as well as utilizing research to upgrade new technologies and combat suits. In-game, players will be able to use artillery, tactical nukes, reinforcements, dropships, and more to be announced at a later date.

Red Solstice 2 will iterate on the tight corridor combat that was featured in the original game, improving it to offer an overall better experience:

“At Ironward, we are big fans of the Aliens movie franchise and other sci-fi classics. With The Red Solstice 2, we really focused in on nailing that tense feeling in-game, as we want to players to be on edge about their chances of survival. I believe our team is on the right track, and our mission is to get this tone right.”
The Red Solstice 2: Survivors will release later this year. To view the Steam page, click here.
