Valheim, developed by Iron Gate AB and published by Coffee Stain, is a survival and exploration game set in the 10th Norse world. Players will build powerful weapons, construct unyielding castles, and sail the seas in search of new lands in order to prove themselves to the gods.
Valheim is a survival game themed around Norse mythology and culture. Players take the role of a recently-deceased Viking warrior who has been swept away by the valkyries to the titular realm, the procedurally-generated 10th Norse world where they'll have to prove their worth to Odin in order to make it into the halls of Valhalla. To survive, players must stand against the environment and build everything they need. Players will be able to build a wide variety of weapons and gear, including great Viking meadhalls and outposts. Eventually, they can create their own longboats and sail the great oceans in search of exotic lands.
However, sailing too far can be dangerous, as there are powerful bosses that only the truly brave should battle. But if players want to get into Valhalla, slaying these beasts is the only way to get the favor of the gods. Combat is based around a dodge and block system with a wide variety of weapons, including spears, bows, and axes.
Valheim will release, as Steam says, "when Odin is pleased" for the PC via Steam. If you want to learn more, check out the official website to watch more footage, sign up for the mailing list, and maybe even get a beta key.
