Supergiant Games Raises $1,000 for Local Animal Shelter

While I like to focus on the games portion of the gaming industry, there's always a story that comes along that's just cool to see. Especially when it involves our friends of the four-legged variety.

Apparently, Supergiant Games, creators of the hit games Bastion and Transistor, decided to help out their local animal shelter, Family Dog Rescue, located in San Francisco. They did this by helping out the rescue with a nice donation. As you can see in the tweet below, Nutella appreciates all the support, as not only is he wearing an awesome bandanna, but he's also got some snacks to munch on as well.

The donation was made via sales of the aforementioned Bastion Bandanna, which is still available on SuperGiant games website. You may think this is a random item to offer, but quite the contrary: the Kid in the game wore an iconic red bandanna across his mouth. Anyway, the store's description reads: "You don't have to be the Kid to rock this 21" by 21" cotton screen, featuring the Star of Caelondia emblazoned across the center." In addition, it includes some words of the Caelondian script among the edges of the bandanna, which roughly translate into "Bastion Team". In other words, it's not just a logo thrown onto a sheet of cotton, there's some thought in the design and relates to the game. And of course, the iconic Squirts are thrown in there as well, probably the most iconic basic enemy of the game.

It seems the item was originally going to be a limited-run giveaway, but they decided to offer it after many people asked for it. And while it's clear that they may not have the greatest of supplies for the store (as a good amount of other items are sold out), it's cool to see that they are giving back to the community.

Quick Take

I ordered one for myself. I'm weak. It's dogs and video games. How could I say no?
