The Smash Remix mod, a gameplay mod for the original Super Smash Bros, has just released one of its biggest updates yet. Version 0.9.7 brings with it the official release of Wolf O'Donnel, as well as the surprise announcement of Conker the squirrel as a new character.
Smash Remix is one of the biggest mods for the Nintendo 64 version of Super Smash Bros. The mod already featured new characters like Young Link, Lucas from MOTHER 3, and Dr. Mario, but the newly released Version 0.9.7 gives us two new fighters. Announced right at the beginning of the video, we get Wolf O'Donnel from Star Fox, a staple character who has been part of the Smash series since Melee. However, at the end of the video is the surprise reveal of Conker, a character who, depending on which game you play, is either kid-friendly, or a surly drunk.
In addition to these new characters, one of the biggest changes in this update is the addition of five new stages. Starting off with the sort of new is Venom from Star Fox, which, like Wolf, was also introduced in Melee. As for the brand new, we have Windy Valley from Conker's Bad Fur Day, releasing alongside the titular character. The final three stages, however, are ones not many people would have expected. Smash Remix players will be able to fight on Rith Essa from the sci-fi shooter game Jet Force Gemini, datadyne from the futuristic shooter Perfect Dark, and Planet Clancer from the cult classic platformer Mischief Makers.
