This morning, Bandai Namco released a new trailer for Super Robot Wars V, the latest in the twenty-five-year-old tactical RPG series. For the unaware, Super Robot Wars V is exactly what it sounds like - a series based around mecha combat. While there have been English releases of the series in the past (Such as Super Robot Wars OG: The Moon Dwellers), Super Robot Wars V will be the first game featuring a cast made up of established mecha properties (Including the likes of Mobile Suit Gundam, Getter Robo, and Code Geass) receiving an Asian English release. And boy, does it have a cast.

The trailer revealed a plethora of new characters hailing from the previously-confirmed series, such as Neon Genesis Evangelion's Asuka Langly and ZZ Gundam's Elepo Puru. Much like the announcement trailer earlier this year, we were also treated to a lengthy montage of their attack animations - all of which cram as much glorious fanservice and impressive animation as possible into the short attacks. We also got a good look at a host of original characters, all of which have unique designs paying tribute to tried and true mecha archtypes.
Once the cast was laid out, the trailer finished with another montage - including some blink and you'll miss it appearances of boss characters along with playable units such as the Mazinger Z and the series first Space Opera representative - the Space Battleship Yamamoto. Also present during this montage, is what we can safely assume to be the game's theme - THE EXCEEDER by Jam Project, who has also done the themes for the Super Robot Wars Alpha and Super Robot Wars Z series.
Super Robot Wars V will release for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita on February 23rd next year.
