Universal Studios has revealed that Super Nintendo World will open in the US this coming February. The park, which will feature a number of attractions based on Super Mario Bros, arrives at Universal Studios Hollywood on February 17th, with an opening also coming for Universal Studios Orlando at some stage.

As pointed out by Deadline, the park will be located near Hollywood's Transformers ride, and you'll enter through a classic Super Mario warp pipe. The key attraction is the rather innovative-sounding Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge, which marries augmented reality, physical sets, and projection mapping.

You'll play as part of Team Mario, who must band together to battle Team Bowser and win the Golden Cup. Along the way, you'll encounter hazards like Bowser statues, Piranha Plants, and more. The ride is intended to simulate the feel of a real Mario Kart race, so if you've ever wished Mario Kart would come to VR, Bowser's Challenge may not be far off.

Super Nintendo World promises to be a magical place for anyone who loves Super Mario.

Other attractions include the chance to engage in "real-life gameplay", punching Question Blocks and collecting Coins. The park will also offer a series of challenges culminating in the chance to face Bowser Jr in a "boss battle". It sounds like Nintendo and Universal have gone all-out on this one.

As you explore the park, you'll get the chance to use your Power-Up Bands, which are also Switch amiibo, to "enhance [the park's] many interactive elements". You can keep scores across the various games in the park, as well as collecting coins and keys from challenges and enjoying "extra-special interactions with Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach".

Of course, there will also be a restaurant where you can get refreshments, served up by none other than Chef Toad himself. Signature Mushroom Kingdom dishes include Super Mushroom Soup, Question Block Tiramisu, and Princess Peach Cupcakes, among others. Once you're done in the park, you can also head over to the 1-Up Factory, a retail store where you can buy lots of Super Mario apparel and merchandise.

This is the second Super Nintendo World that has opened, after the original park opened in Japan last year. Two more Super Nintendo World parks are currently planned for Singapore and Orlando. Both parks are expected to open in 2025. In the meantime, you can look forward to the upcoming Super Mario Bros movie, which has a star-studded cast including Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, and, of course, Jack Black. That movie hits theaters on April 7th.
