Nintendo Super Mario Run

Nintendo released their auto-runner platformer featuring everyone's favorite Italian plumber on iOS devices a few weeks ago, and it seems like the Android version isn't very far off! This news comes from the Nintendo of America Twitter account which confirmed the imminent arrival of Super Mario Run on Android devices.

While the release of the Android version is looming over the horizon, Nintendo previously stated that the Android version of Super Mario Run won't be coming to Google's platform in 2016. This was because Nintendo wanted to develop for Apple's mobile OS because of the platform's stability. When the Android version gets an official release is anyone's guess at this point, but you can now pre-register the game so you'll be notified when it releases. You can go here to pre-register on the Google Play Store.

The Android version of the app will come with the same limitations as the iOS version. Players are able to download the first few levels of the game for free as a sort of trial. if you want to play all the levels in the game you'll have to buy the full version of the app. This version will likely also need to have an always online internet connection to function, which has been a controversial design choice on Nintendo's part.

Super Mario Run got released on iOS on the 15th of December and has managed to accrue over 50 million downloads in the first week, and placed the app on the 'Highest Grossing' list on the Apple Store. Although that number is certainly impressive, the game quickly fell down the rankings after its second week and is no longer topping the charts anywhere.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
