During today's Super Mario Bros 35th anniversary Nintendo Direct, it was announced that Super Mario 3D World will be coming to the Nintendo Switch. It'll be an enhanced release which will also feature bonus content under the name Bowser's Fury.
What will Super Mario 3D World's extra Switch content be?
It's not yet clear exactly what Bowser's Fury will constitute. The only hint we got was a teaser level which looks appropriately moody and rain-soaked. You can also see a number of hazards featured in the original Super Mario 3D World in the background of the stage. It's not yet clear whether this will be a single new level or a number of new themed stages. Nintendo says it will have more to share about what this new content constitutes in the coming weeks and months.
We do know that Super Mario 3D World, which originally launched on Wii U in 2013, will feature new multiplayer functionality. Where the Wii U version only offered local play, now players will be able to team up with one another both locally and online. You will need a Nintendo Switch Online membership if you want to play 3D World online with your friends, though. In addition to the release of Super Mario 3D World for Switch, new Amiibo figures depicting Cat Mario and Cat Peach from the game will also be made available at the same time.
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury will launch for Nintendo Switch on February 12th next year.
