During E3 2019, Firefly Studios gave the audience a new look at the fourth installment in the Stronghold franchise, Stronghold: Warlords. Since then, the community was given access to a brief demo through participating in the Discord MetaGame and spending 500 gold in the shop to buy a Steam key. The studio presented the title during the Escapist Indie Showcase, and finally gave it a release date.
Stronghold: Warlords takes place in Eastern Asia, featuring four nations; the Chinese, the Japanese, the Mongols, and the Vietnamese. Firefly Studios drew inspiration from those historically rich civilizations to design their units. Players will get to recruit imperial fire lancers, disciplined samurai, Mongolian bowmen, and auxiliary laddermen.
Firefly discussed that the reason for the name of the game was to reflect the Warlords players can choose between. Each one of them offers you a strategic advantage over your opponents, with unique perks, characteristics, and upgradeable abilities. They refresh with every campaign mission, skirmish, and multiplayer game to keep the player always looking to create the strongest army with the warlords at his disposal.
The developer aims to provide a fresh and improved experience from previous entries in the series. Players get to build armies and conquer the land around them. All of this while tending to their population's needs and fostering a strong industrial and economical nation.
Stronghold: Warlords officially releases on September 29th for PC. Make sure to check out the trailer below for the release date announcement and a more in-depth look at the game's multiplayer mode.
