After a release date false start earlier this month, upcoming side-scrolling brawler Streets of Rage 4 finally has a release date. It's hitting PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One on April 30th.
Alongside news of the release date, publisher and co-developer Dotemu also revealed details regarding Streets of Rage 4's Battle Mode. This returning feature from Streets of Rage 2 and 3 will allow you and your friends to duke it out with one another in a series of arenas. It'll come complete with Versus and Team modes, so you can level the playing field against that one friend who's unreasonably good at the game. Battle Mode should also help you get revenge for those unfortunate friendly fire strikes. Check out the trailer for Streets of Rage 4's Battle Mode below:
The good news keeps coming for Streets of Rage fans today. Over on the PlayStation Blog, Dotemu executive producer Cyrille Imbert details how the team included classic pixel art from old-school Streets of Rage releases. There's also a little information on returning classic soundtracks from Streets of Rage 1 and 2 if you're into the nostalgia gig. You'll be able to switch those soundtracks whenever you like.
Streets of Rage 4 is, strangely enough, the fourth game in the Streets of Rage side-scrolling beat-'em-up series. It's the first title to launch in the series since 1994. The game is a co-development effort between Dotemu, Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap creator Lizardcube, and Guard Crush Games. You'll be able to play Streets of Rage 4 when it hits PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on April 30th. It'll set you back $24.99.
