New Street Fighter V character Laura has been leaked online. The screenshots of Capcom's upcoming Street Fighter V brand new fighter were unintentionally shared by Famitsu, says an eventhubs article. The screenshots showing Laura were shared mistakenly when Famitsu was supposed to be showing images of recently announced returning character Zangief.
Not much is known about Laura, since she is brand new to Street Fighter V and was leaked ahead of schedule. There are some things we can speculate based on the screenshots leaked. For starters, it seems she is a Brazilian fighter based off of the stage and her moveset. It seems she uses Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but as an interesting twist her moves feature electricity and bolts of lightening. This seems to be a reference to Blanka, who is also a Brazilian fighter and uses electricity in his moves, but who unfortunately seems to be absent from Street Fighter V.
Capcom stated previously that there would be four new fighters in Street Fighter V. Necalli and Rashid have already been revealed, and now Laura makes three, so we still have one more left. As of right now, Street Fighter V still doesn't have an official release date, although Capcom has said it will come out during the current fiscal year.
Quick Take
Laura seems like a pretty awesome character, and it's especially cool that they're doing a sort of homage to Blanka, and who knows maybe she'll have an actual connection to Blanka when her information is officially revealed by Capcom. Hopefully Capcom will just reveal all her info quickly now that she's been leaked, but we'll have to wait and see. It's also nice to see Street Fighter continue to expand on the different fighting styles represented in the series.
