The recent release of documentation regarding Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition has revealed several interesting conditions and terms players must follow to participate in the game's online tournament.
The document puts forth several normal conditions for taking part in an online tournament, such as registering for the event via Capcom's website, as well as the fact that you can use a different game tag for registration then their Capcom Fighter Network ID, which, according to a post on eventhubs.com, can get a player disqualified for using an inappropriate name.
More interestingly, the manual also puts forth that player's taking part in an online tournament must be using wired internet access with a connection speed of 3 megabytes per second or better to take part in a tournament. Anyone who is found to be breaking this rule can be disqualified and thus eliminated from the tournament entirely.
On top of this, a player who suspects that their opponent may be using a laggy connection or doing something that breaks the tournament's rules can appeal the issue by clicking the "Raise Objection" button on the tournaments bracket. The post does not cover what may happen to a player who is found to be abusing a connection but goes on suspects it may result in disqualification. However, the document does state that Players who found to file false reports will be disqualified themselves.
According to the post, one of the major complaints regarding the online tournament mode is the amount of downtime between matches, possibly due to processing player's reports and other information. Players can exit the tournament and play other modes, such as training mode while waiting but will be knocked out of the tournament if they are late for a match.
Other new features of the model include a variety of customization options such as the ability to chose between single and double elimination, banning certain characters/costumes, and settings related to the number of rounds in a match.
Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition arrives on February 13th, 2020 on the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
