According to the Capcom Unity blogs the latest Beta test for Street Fighter 5 will be starting on the 18th at 12.01 AM PT (8:01 GMT) and lasting until the 20th at 10PM PT (6AM GMT). The Beta will go online and end at the same time for both PC and PS4.
The available characters and stages are unknown but the blogs have outlined some new features. The Beta will now have a designated training mode, meaning you can practice with characters and get a feel for the beta before you jump straight in, allow you to join either ranked or casual matches as well as expansions on previous features such as the Capcom Fighters Network. From the minor server test that happened a few days ago, we can see an overhauled menu with different music.
A teaser trailer of the opening cutscene of the released game was released on the Capcom youtube channel.
Existing Beta participants will also receive beta invite keys to give to friends. Some may already have already received these keys to gift to fellow Street Fighter fans.
Finally, after the finale of the Capcom Cup 2015 having been and gone. Capcom Cup 2016 has been announced with the main game featured being Street Fighter 5. The Official Cup begins on March 18th with the finals being held in Atlanta, Georgia. Further information is unknown.
Having taken part in the previous beta on PC, I am incredibly excited for the next round. Whilst the first Beta for PS4 was plagued with issues, the 2nd running seemed like a substantial improvement, at least in my experience. The concept of giving out beta keys to gift to friends is an interesting one. This means that one, Capcom are more confident in their servers being able to handle a larger influx of users and that this beta might be the key to swaying those who are on the fence, giving people who haven't per-ordered the chance to try the game out for free.
