Strasbourg-based indie developer Embers has revealed a release date for its upcoming action-adventure game Strayed Lights. The rather evocative-looking game is arriving across PC and consoles on April 25th, and the studio has also released a new gameplay trailer so you can check out the combat and exploration for yourself.

Strayed Lights was re-revealed just last month after originally being announced last year, so it's nice to finally have a concrete release date for the game. The setup sounds pretty ambiguous; you're a "tiny, growing light seeking transcendence", and you must explore a world of ruins and majestic landscapes in order to dispatch shadowy enemies and discover your true purpose. You can check out the new Strayed Lights gameplay trailer right here.

The combat in Strayed Lights revolves around a rather interesting parry-dodge mechanic. By parrying enemy attacks and changing your color in sync with theirs, you can build up energy to unleash a devastating energy attack. If you've played games like Ikaruga or Outland, then you'll know what kind of territory you're in with this mechanic, although this is a full 3D action game rather than a 2D platformer.

You can also look forward to exploring what Embers calls a "dark and oneiric world that is as vivid as it is mysterious". Soundtrack duties on Strayed Lights are being handled by Austin Wintory, whose name you might recognize from iconic works like JourneyThe Banner Saga, and Abzu. Expect some pretty beautiful music to accompany you as you engage in combat and wander around the world.

Strayed Lights is due to arrive on PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG.com on April 25th. The game is also coming to PlayStation consoles, Xbox platforms, and Nintendo Switch on the same date. Make sure to wishlist this one if you want to keep up with its progress!
