Finnish game developer and publish Next Games has announced a brand-new mobile RPG title based on the universe of Netflix's Stranger Things. The new title will re-imagine the series in the style of a classic Saturday morning cartoon and features location-based mechanics where players will have to work with other fans of the show to explore the Upside Down in the real world around them. The game will also feature RPG mechanics and puzzles which tie into the location-based aspects of gameplay.

The CEO of Next Games, Teemu Huuhtanen, said:

“We are huge fans of Stranger Things and thrilled to work together with Netflix to bring our shared vision of Stranger Things into life in a mobile game format. Our core focus will be to deliver on Stranger Things’ rich and intense themes like friendship and supernatural adventure, and translate these into snack-sized entertainment on your mobile device. Combined with Netflix’s second-to none ability to reach audiences across the globe, we will deploy all of our accumulated creative and technological expertise to create a game for the fans of the series all around the world.”
Next Games are well known for their games based on different entertainment franchises such as movies, books, and tv shows, and are the creators behind The Walking Dead: Our World, a location-based game which is an adaptation of AMC's zombie apocalypse tv series. The location-based mechanics will be integrated with Google Maps and will almost certainly be similar in style to the previously mentioned Walking Dead title, as well as those seen in Pokemon Go. The new mobile game is currently slated for a released in 2020 on Ios and Android platforms.
