Square Enix has announced the Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin release date. The Soulslike hack-and-slash RPG arrives next March, and to accompany this announcement, a brand new demo for the game has been released.

What new Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin info is there?

All of the new information was revealed in a brand new Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin trailer released earlier today. The rather ominous new trailer delves into the game's central premise: that darkness has engulfed the world and corrupted the four elemental crystals, so Jack, Ash, Jed, and the newly-revealed Neon must journey through the land to restore them to their former luster. That's not all there is to it, though; the intro to the trailer makes mention of a time loop. Moreover, in an intriguing closing sting, Jack introduces himself by the full name "Jack Garland", revealing he shares a name with what appears to be the principal villain. What does this mean? You'll have to play the game to find out, we suspect.

In addition to these new story details, we also got a glimpse at some more of Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin's enemies. In the first demo, which launched earlier this year (albeit with some teething troubles), we got to do battle with some classic Final Fantasy enemies including goblins, bombs, and bats. The new trailer also shows Jack and company doing battle with coeurls, cactuars, and sandworms, among others. The trailer also shows two new bosses: a dual fire-water elemental and a new interpretation of Tiamat, here shown as a sort of chimaera-hydra hybrid with several protruding serpent-like heads. It's all looking rather exciting.

When is the Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin release date?

You'll have a little while to wait for Square Enix's new Final Fantasy action RPG. The Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin release date is March 22nd, 2022. It'll launch for PlayStation consoles, Xbox platforms, and PC. It looks like it'll be an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC; the Steam logo doesn't appear in the new trailer, but the Epic logo does. The game was originally announced back in June and is a darker, more mature action take on the traditional JRPG franchise. The reveal trailer met with criticism (and mockery) for a perceived overabundance of the word "chaos" and Jack and company's somewhat mundane and urban look. Square Enix seems to have taken this on board; the new trailer has nary a mention of Chaos and shows the party in more traditional Final Fantasy garb.

Regular series enemies like cactuars will appear throughout Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin.

If you didn't check out the first demo, you won't have to wait much longer to know whether this game is up your alley or not. A new Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin demo is available right now on the PlayStation Store. The trial period for this one lasts from today until October 11th. If it's anywhere near as fun as the first demo, you're in for a treat if you check this one out. We'll bring you more on Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin as soon as we get it.
