The First Contact DLC is heading to Stellaris, where we finally make contact with life that lives among the stars. Alongside the DLC comes a free update for players to enjoy.
The upcoming DLC focuses on life forms from other planets finally coming to visit. For eons, people have asked themselves "are we really the only ones out here in space?", and we now have the answer. The pack centers on Pre-FTL civilizations, and we get to see things from the point of view of the civilization itself and from the outside as observers. Observation has also received a makeover featuring new and enhanced systems in relation to Awareness, Diplomacy, and even Espionage.
There are also two Challenging Origins being added; Payback and Broken Shackles. These two will focus mainly on the struggles each of the empires face, whereas the third Standard Origin, Fear of the Dark, will focus on the difference between paranoia and facts. All three of these new origins will be heavily narrative-driven and give us insight into the new technologies being introduced in this story pack.
At the time of writing, there is no information on when this DLC will go live, but players can add it to their wishlist via Steam. The developers say that they will be releasing more details on the update and DLC on January 19, 2023.
Stellaris is currently available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The game prompts players to build their own empires in a hostile galaxy full of alien races eager to form alliances and struggle for power, among starfleet battles, colonization of unexplored star systems, and planetary management aplenty.
