After a short closed alpha last month, Ubisoft has announced that the closed and open beta for their winter sports game Steep will be coming on November 10 and November 18, respectively. This news comes from the official Ubisoft blog and includes a trailer for the open beta:

The blog post also gives some additional information about what players might expect if they gain access to either of the beta phases, which will both have the exact same content available for play.
During the beta, you will gain access to a variety of challenges spread around several areas in the open world set in the Alps, with. Players will be able to play in 3 areas during the beta; Aravis, Tyrol and Needles.
Players will also be able to test out nine 'Mountain Stories', Steep's story mode, which might be a bit of a surprise because winter sports games usually don't have a narrative. Completing challenges and Mountain Stories gets you new gear you can use to customize your character's appearance.
During either beta, players will be able to share their runs with other players and will be able to experience runs from a first-person perspective using the in-game GoPro camera angle.
After a rather long absence it seems like people will be getting a fresh batch of winter sports games in the form of Steep and the upcoming free-to-play winter sports game Snow. There is also the snowboarding-focused Infinite Air with Mark McMorris that is on consoles and PC. Snow has an open beta on PlayStation 4 right now if you'd like to contrast and compare Snow and Steep, as both games are meant for the same audience. Steep will see the light of day sooner rather than later. Its scheduled release date is on December 2 and will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
