The Steelrising PC beta has just been delayed by Spiders and Nacon due to "issues" that the developers haven't elaborated on. Interestingly, the game has only been delayed on PC, with the beta proceeding as scheduled on consoles. The aforementioned issues must have been significant, because this news comes on the very day that the beta was supposed to begin on all platforms. Let's take a look at it, shall we?
What else do I need to know about the Steelrising PC beta?
The Steelrising PC beta was supposed to start today for those who preordered the game and run until September 7th, with the game releasing the following day. Console players currently have access to the beta, but it's currently unknown when PC players will be able to play it. Those who have preordered any version of the game have access to the beta, and the beta will allow players to play through the first two levels of the game. Progress will not be carried over to the full game, so players will have to start the game over from the beginning on September 8th.
As for gaining access to the Steelrising beta, if you want to try out the game, you can preorder it through the main website (although maybe not on PC right now). If you preordered a physical version, you'll need to ask your retailer for a code to access the beta. If you put in a digital preorder, then the beta should already be unlocked on consoles.
What is Steelrising?
Steelrising is a Soulslike set in an alternate-history version of late 18th-century Paris, where the French Revolution has been bloodily suppressed by Louis XVI and his mechanical army. As an automaton named Aegis, the player will take on the king's army alone in order to save history and ensure that freedom from the monarchy arrives for the French.
As for the gameplay, players can do the expected dodging, parries, jumps, and attacks that Soulslikes are known for. Basically, if you've played Elden Ring or a similar title then you know roughly what to expect. Players will be able to upgrade their abilities to play as either hard hitter, a deadly dancer, or a user of the elemental arts.
