There's a nasty Steelrising DLC bug hanging around right now, and it might stop you accessing the DLC on your current save. The developers say they're aware of the bug and are working to fix it, but for now, you might have to take some pretty drastic measures if you want to discover Cagliostro's secrets.
The first piece of major Steelrising DLC was announced last month and released yesterday, but some players are having trouble accessing it. The problem lies in the fact that the Steelrising DLC is accessed late in the game, after finishing a pivotal story mission. If you haven't finished that mission, you can't gain access to the DLC.
However, when you finish the main Steelrising game, a save is automatically created that simply takes you to the credit screen. When the game's New Game Plus update was released in September, a new special save file was supposed to be created for players who had reached this point, allowing them to access the DLC and to attend to any unfinished business. However, several players are now reporting that this save doesn't exist for them.
Without this save file, there's no way to access the NPC who gives you the quest, nor is there a way to return to that NPC's location. Instead, loading your endgame save simply shows the credits, then returns you to the title screen. This issue doesn't seem to be affecting every player, but the developers say it's happening to anyone for whom the special save was "not properly created in the first place".
Developer Spiders says it's aware of this issue and is currently looking into a fix for it. However, according to the developer, the only way to get around the problem at the moment is simply to start a new game or a New Game Plus run. Obviously, this isn't ideal, because it means you'll have to play through the entirety of Steelrising again if you want to access the additional chunk of content the DLC adds.
Right now, there's no time frame as to when this problem will be rectified, so it looks like you'd better get to grinding through Steelrising's main campaign if you want to discover Cagliostro's Secrets. Naturally, we'll bring you more on this as soon as we get it, so stay tuned for updates.
