A new Steam Adult Only games category has gone live on the site as part of Steam Labs Experiment 010, giving gamers the opportunity to find the best lewd content on the platform in one convenient place.
Yesterday, Valve debuted Steam Labs Experiment 010. Steam Labs is Valve's internal project to improve the functionality of its Steam storefront, and this new experiment has aimed to make discoverability easier by allowing more complex searches based on tags on game content.
Naturally, this new experiment would make it easier for players to find, say, a tactical first-person shooter rather than an arcade-style first-person shooter, or a JRPG instead of a CRPG. One wonderful little side effect, however, is that it's become easier than ever to find adult games on Steam.
How to Find the Best Steam Adult Only Games
Browsing the Steam Adult Only games section requires you to opt into Steam Labs Experiment 010. From there, you'll have a new "Categories" menu appearing at the top of the screen, and this is where you'll find the Adult Games section.
Steam has had a tricky history with adult games. Back in 2018, dozens of adult-oriented titles were suddenly facing removal on the platform with little to no explanation at the time. Valve later reversed its decision on many of these games, clarifying that it would only remove games that are "illegal, or straight up trolling," although adult game developers still faced difficulty with Steam later in that same year.
Now, Game Informer has highlighted the existence of the new Steam Adult Only Games category. While there have been other ways to browse these titles (such as the "Adult Only Games" Steam curator), this is the first true integration that's been baked into the platform, albeit as an experimental feature.
You can see the new Steam Adult Only Games section by opting into Steam Labs Experiment 010 on the Steam Labs page. From there, you can click "Categories" and then "Adult Only" under "Special Sections" — or you can simply visit the Adult Only catalog directly.
