This week in State of the Game we'll take a look at some of the stats for games released on Steam between the 12th and 18th of February this year. It was a pretty big week on Steam with one game dominating nearly all of the stats and a smattering of smaller titles filling out the rest of the ranks. There's also a few weird and wonderful entries to take a look at so let's take a look at what's making the charts this week.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance, which was Kickstarted just over 4 years ago, takes out this week's top spot by a very wide margin. It's one of those rare games that managed to attract a massive player base and keep them playing for an extended period of time. That combination has led to Kingdom Come accounting for a whopping 4% of all the hours spent playing games on Steam over the past 2 weeks. To give you an idea there are only 4 games which accounted for more time, which were: CS: GO, PUBG, DOTA2 and Rainbow Six Siege. Whilst the initial fervor is starting to taper down a little now, averaging some 25K players with 24 hours of average play time over the past 2 weeks, it's still by far one of the most played games on Steam. Well done to the team at Warhorse Studios!
Dynasty Warriors 9 takes the unenviable award for being the most poorly reviewed game to ever make it into the top 5. Surprisingly that doesn't seem to deter some of the series more dedicated players as it still averages around 600 people (who spend on average 15 hours in the game no less) to this day. Honestly, it's almost unfathomable that the game could still attract players in the state it's in as even the "so bad it's good" crowd usually stops playing only after a few hours.
