State of Decay

State of Decay, the single player, open world, survival tactics game from Undead Labs, is jumping consoles.

First released on the Xbox 360 back in 2013, State of Decay was a runaway hit that secured over two million paid downloads on both the Xbox 360 and Steam. In January of 2014, Undead Labs signed a multi-year, multi-title partnership deal with Microsoft. As a part of that deal, State of Decay will be getting the jump to the current generation, heading over to the Xbox One this April.

Now billed as State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition, Undead Labs is not just porting the base game, but the two major DLC's for the downloadable title, Breakdown and Lifeline, along with some new content thrown in the mix.

Other than updating the content with a graphical overhaul, Year One will also include new weapons customization's, such as incendiary ammo, new vehicles like a durable SUV truck, and even a new custom character, an Indian-american named Gurubani Kaur. Year One will also offer new challenges, achievements, and even a new mission type, a "loot crate" crawl to procure rare and powerful equipment while your band of survivors fight off the zombie hordes. On top of that, over thirty minutes of brand new music from composer Jesper Kyd will be included in the package, making it the most complete version of State of Decay yet.

State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition will be released on April 28th in North America, and May 1st everywhere else on the Xbox One. The game will cost $30 upon release.

Fortunately for fans on the Xbox 360,Undead Labs and Microsoft are offering a 33% discount for owners who have purchased the game for the 360, provided you have the same screen name carried over to the Xbox One. The discount will only last until June 30th, 2015.

So what do you think? Is this enough to entice anyone to try their luck against a zombie apocalypse? What about fans of the original, is it worth playing it on the Xbox One?
