We now have a Starship Troopers: Extermination Early Access release date. If you hate bugs (as you should), you'll be able to blast 'em on PC via Steam starting from May 17th, and you won't just be shooting at alien creatures either; you'll also be helping the dev team to squash some bugs of their own.
Starship Troopers: Extermination was originally unveiled in November last year, and since then, it's undergone a few changes. The Early Access version of the game will support 16 players, up from the originally intended 12, and will offer three classes - Assault, Support, and Defense - to choose from. You'll build your base, defend it from bugs, and unlock new gear and upgrades for your class.

At launch, the game will feature five different bug types for you to fight, and more will be added as development progresses. Starship Troopers: Extermination's map will offer five unique zones to defend, and with hundreds of bugs swarming the screen at any given time, it promises to be an overwhelming experience. Luckily, you'll have a ping system with which to communicate with your squadmates.
Your goal will be to wrest control of the map away from the bugs, and to do so, you'll need to wage war across bases, refineries, and bug hives. The insect threat will escalate as you fight, so while you'll start off battling groundlings, it won't be long before you're fighting for your life against colossal bugs that threaten your squad with its own extermination.
Starship Troopers: Extermination launches on PC via Steam Early Access on May 17th. It'll release at a "special introductory price" of $24.99, which will then increase as more features and content get added to the game. Stay tuned for more news on all things Starship Troopers: Extermination.
