Surprise! The Stardew Valley 1.4 console content update is now live!

"The Stardew Valley 1.4 update is now available on Switch & PS4, and should be coming to Xbox in the next couple of hours," developer ConcernedApe announced last night on Twitter. "I hope you enjoy it and happy holidays everyone!"

This update brings the console version of Stardew Valley in line with the PC version just three weeks after the patch deployed there. If you've been out of the loop with the new developments, let's go ahead and explore some of the new stuff now available!

What's New in The Stardew Valley 1.4 Console Update?

A baffling amount of new content was released in the Stardew Valley 1.4 console update. As noted in the PC patch notes, there are a whole bunch of new things available, including (but not limited to):

  • Dozens of new hairstyles
  • Hundreds of new clothing options and a new way to craft clothes
  • A new "Four Corners" farm that's perfect for multiplayer
  • A "Quarry Mine" added to the quarry with a brand-new tool
  • Mini fridges which let you expand your cooking stock in your home
  • Workbenches which can craft using adjacent chests
  • New 14-heart events for all bachelors and bachelorettes
  • Multiplayer cabins can now build cellars
  • You can now have Krobus move in as a platonic roommate

That's far from everything added into the game — there are also some neat new features like Fish Ponds (which let you raise fish), a shed expansion that can double it in size, and several new enemies for the players to face!

What About Android and iOS?

Android and iOS players will note that there hasn't been any mention of them getting the Stardew Valley 1.4 console patch. Unfortunately, it seems like their update is going to be delayed a few more weeks — ConcernedApe said that the mobile update should be coming sometime in January 2020.

If you don't yet already own Stardew Valley, you can get it DRM-free on GOG for $11.99 or your regional equivalent, a 20% discount as part of the site's Winter Sale; otherwise, PC players can get it via Steam or the Humble Store for the regular price of $14.99. Console gamers can get it for the Nintendo SwitchXbox One, or PlayStation 4  and mobile gamers can get it for Android at the Play Store for $7.99 and iOS at iTunes for $4.99.
