Star Wars Battlefront publisher Electronic Arts announced details on the upcoming season pass for the post-launch DLC in a blog post on their official website. The season pass will cost a hefty $50 and will give you access to four expansion packs, in addition to giving you early access to them. Season Pass holders will also be able to use the exclusive "shoot first" emote. At this point, it's still unknown as to what the expansion packs will contain, but one could assume that it will have new maps.
There are 2 special editions available at the moment. The deluxe edition of the game will give you instant access to Han Solo's iconic blaster, an MPL Ion Cannon that is apparently perfect for fighting off vehicles and the Ion Shock and Victory emotes. Players can also purchase the ultimate edition of the game. The ultimate edition will contain all the goodies players can get in the Deluxe Edition and the season pass is included in the purchase.
Purchasing the deluxe edition will cost you around $70. Purchasing the Ultimate Edition will cost you $140 (but there are some better deals to found online). Players who preorder the game will get access to two maps a couple of weeks before everyone else.
The game is set to release on November 17 in North America, with other territories being released over the course of a few days later.
I'm not sure how to feel about this. Two weeks of early access is nice, but I'm not entirely sure that plus a few ingame weapons are enough of an incentive to get the game early. Since it's unknown what the expansion packs will add to the game in terms of content, it's a bit much to ask people to pay a price that is very close to the retail price of the real game up front, without knowing what they're buying into. I'd wait it out a bit longer and wait for Dice and EA to give potential buyers a little more info.
