Battlefront II's recent showing at E3 has impressed many, including our own writers, with improvements across the board from the way weapons feel to the way heroes work. If you're dying to see these improvements for yourself, then this post on the PlayStation blog is just what you're looking for as EA's Jared Petty details the Battlefront II open beta coming to PlayStation 4 on October 6th. The post goes on to detail just what beta players can expect, as well as announcing the pre-order bonuses for PS4, including two days early access to the beta. Check out the trailer for the announcement below. EA have confirmed separately that the Beta will also take place on PC and Xbox One on the same dates and that the same pre-order bonuses apply to all platforms.
The first mode that players will have access to during the beta is a Galactic Assault on Naboo. This 40 player melee sees players fighting either as Droid Separatists or Republic Clones, complete with prequel era vehicles and heroes. Players will be able to choose from four unit classes to best help their team to victory. Assault troopers push the front, flanking opponents and gaining ground. Heavy Troopers use heavy weapons and personal shields to hold down the fort. Captains buff allies while making use of remote weapons and Specialists can set traps and snipe from a distance.
The other mode that was announced for the beta is a multiplayer Starfighter Assault but EA is keeping tight-lipped about exactly what that entails until Gamescom 2017, which takes place in Cologne next month. What they did say is that players will "be able to take part in an epic Starfighter Assault set during the original trilogy era, piloting an assortment of Star Wars’ greatest ships in an objective-based, multi-stage battle."
Pre-order bonuses that were announced for all versions of the game include the previously mentioned early beta access on the 4th of October, instant access to six epic star cards for Kylo and Rey, exclusive outfits, instant access to the Last Jedi Millennium Falcon, a first order ship upgrade, and an epic Yoda star card (while supplies last). In addition, pre-orders of the Battlefront II: Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition come with an extra day's early access and upgraded versions of all four trooper classes. Battlefront II is set to release on the 17th of November on PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC via EA Origin.
