Star Wars: Battlefront is only a few months away from launch, but we are still learning new details about the upcoming game by DICE.

A minor piece of news includes the confirmation of dedicated servers. At the TGS show this past week, Battlefront's lead hero designer Jamie Keen was asked about the server situation. Speaking with Playstation Lifestyle, Keen stated "We’ll still have dedicated servers. Absolutely. It’s one of the hallmarks of making sure we deliver an unparalled online servers for the game."

The question of dedicated servers was in doubt when it was announced previously that Star Wars: Battlefront would have a skill-based matchmaking system. This also eliminated a server browser for the game, leading many to believe that dedicated servers would not be a part of the games design.

The confirmation by Keen regarding Battlefront's server status would likely end all speculation on the matter. While it is unclear how dedicated servers will be made available in the final product without a server browser.

This small announcement comes behind the much larger announcements of Battlefront's confirmed single player mode, and open beta for the entire consumer base, where DICE and EA are opening up Star Wars: Battlefront for everyone to try and play some of the game modes and maps.

Currently, DICE has not announced a release window for the Battlefront open beta.

The game proper is an official reboot to the Pandemic series of the same name, first released for the Playstation 2 and Xbox back in the early 2000s. Players would battle on multi-player styled maps with characters and locations found in the Star Wars universe.

The DICE version of Star Wars: Battlefront will be released on November 17th for the PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4.
