Star Fox Wii U

That's right! At this year's E3, Star Fox for the Wii U should be playable for attendees, based on what Shigeru Miyamoto told Smosh Games yesterday. This is also a great sign for the game, and could mean that it will make its intended launched for later in 2015!

During the video, Miyamoto also further explained (and reiterated) that the game will use the Wii U's GamePad as the cockpit view for the game, and the TV itself will display the Arwing in a third person mode. Essentially, the main screen will be a cinematic view of the Arwing, while you still control and view the cockpit through the GamePad itself. The goal for the combination of the two is to make the game into something of a playable cinematic at times, based upon some statements that Miyamoto made:

One of the things that we're doing is, often times in games you have the cinema scenes where it's a movie that's playing and you have to just sit back and watch. There's no gameplay, but because we have the GamePad with the second screen, what we can do is have these cinematic sequences in the game where you're still able to look around and play.
Miyamoto has been directly involved with Star Fox for the Wii U, and based on his excitement for the game - it's hard not to get excited right alongside him. The use of the Wii U GamePad offers a new experience that we haven't yet seen with the Wii U console, so it will be interesting to see it in action, as it is an attempt to innovate upon the increasing trend of cinematics in games. With Nintendo working to show the worth of the GamePad for Wii U users, this shows an excellent use of the peripheral - as many have criticized it's lack of use in some games.

Star Fox is slated to be released in 2015, and based on statements made by Miyamoto at The Game Awards, it will release before the new Legend of Zelda title, which is to be expected this year as well.

What do you think of this? Are you excited for Star Fox to be released? How about the use of the GamePad?
