Star Citizen Tumbril Storm

Today Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games introduced two new vehicles to the growing lineup of the space game.

The first, which is actually playable right now, is the RSI Lynx, a rover designed for luxury and to complement RSI's own Constellation Phoenix high-end ship.

The second has been introduced as a concept, which is basically like a pre-order as the vehicle is not playable just yet. It's the Tumbril Storm tank, which is indeed an armored vehicle inspired by manga and anima in its aesthetics. It's lighter than the heavy Tumbril Nova tank, but it still comes with a size-3 cannon.

You can check both in the videos below. Incidentally, the Lynx can be tested for free today and tomorrow within the game as part of the free fly event for Invictus Launch Week, which lets everyone enjoy the current Alpha 3.19 without needing to make any purchase until May 30.

In the meanwhile, Star Citizen's growing crowdfunding campaign continues to make progress and the overall tally is now approaching $580 million ($579,134,021 at the moment of this writing) pledged from backers.

The number of registered users has also recently passed 4.6 million and it's now at 4,627,365, albeit not all of them are paying since many register accounts to access the free fly events like the one going on right now. According to the latest information that creative director Chris Roberts himself shared in October 2022, 1.7 million players are actually paying customers. Of course, that number is a few months old, so it's probably higher now.

Full disclosure: the author of this post has backed Star Citizen all the way back when its crowdfunding was first launched in September 2012.
