In what is sure to be one of many battle royale experiences debuting during E3 2018, the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-inspired game Fear The Wolves has released a trailer in the lead-up to the industry's biggest show according to a news post on the game's official website.
Fear The Wolves is a game being put together by Focus Home Interactive and veteran S.T.A.L.K.E.R. developers at Vostok Games. This battle royale-style title will drop you and 99 other players in an irradiated wasteland with all sorts of dangerous mutated wildlife, strange anomalies, and even more dangerous humans. Take a look at the E3 Trailer to get a feel for what Fear The Wolves is all about:
Anyone familiar with the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games are going to notice some immediate similarities, most notably in the strange anomalies that seem to be warping the very air around you. What exactly these anomalies will do to a player isn't yet known, but I'd bet a couple mags of AK ammo that it probably isn't very good. Judging by the Geiger counter clicking like a Diablo II player's mouse, it seems that radiation will also be a specific hazard in this particular title, which will also feature Player vs Environment challenges, including the wolves shown in the trailer.
Unlike many other titles in the battle royale genre, Fear The Wolves has the specific goal of escaping the area via a helicopter extraction. An MI-26 "Halo" seems to be the goal for our hero in the trailer. Although this particular aircraft could comfortably fit quite a few people, only a single survivor in the radioactive wasteland will be able to make it out alive.
The battle royale genre is sure to explode, and Fear The Wolves is looking to bring its own unique twist to PCs and consoles very soon. Keep your eyes open for the PC version of the game debuting in Early Access this summer with a console version to follow sometime later.
