Japan’s Tokyo Game Show came to an end last week, and during the event, Siliconera discussed with Square Enix Director, Tetsuya Nomura, the future of the Kingdom Hearts series. In the interview, there were small mentions of Kingdom Hearts 3’s steady progression and the trials thereof, as well as a potential remake/rerelease of Kingdom Hearts 3D

Kingdom Hearts 3D Remake Coming Soon?

The real stand out was the hint of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance receiving a remastered edition for either current-gen and/or last-gen consoles. With the October release of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix, releasing a remake of Kingdom Hearts 3D would be a very smart move for Square Enix, considering the handheld game ties the previous games of the franchise together and prepares players for the much anticipated Kingdom Hearts 3.

"Square Enix are putting serious consideration into making an HD version for Kingdom Hearts 3D, as it’s the only one that doesn’t have one." - Siliconera

With Dream Drop Distance, players do not necessarily have to play through the previous games to understand what’s happening presently in the series. As you progress through the game, you are rewarded with a detailed synopsis  of what happened in previous titles. The brief statements specify important events you'll want to know as a Kingdom Hearts fan and explains what’s happened to notable characters, as well as where they are now.

The Final Remake

This would be the last remaining remake within the Kingdom Hearts franchise before Kingdom Hearts 3 arrives some time (hopefully) in 2015. If you’re a true Kingdom Hearts fan, chances are you’ve already purchased a 3DS just to play this game and you're psyched to play Kingdom Hearts 3! However, if you are new to the franchise or just happened to skip this one altogether, you’ll hopefully have the chance to play Dream Drop Distance in all its HD glory very soon!

Until then, keep it tuned to TechRaptor!
