After reaching over 50% of its $30,000 intended target on KickStarter, Goetia, a point and click adventure game developed by Sushee and backed by Square Enix Collective has released a free demo of the game for both Windows and Mac. The demo which is almost a whopping 2gb in size, allows you to play as Abigail Blackwood, the spirit of a girl who died 40 years prior to the beginning of Goetia.
The demo grants access to the first location in the game - Blackwood Manor - and allows you to get a first look at the gameplay mechanics such as exploration and spiritual possession of objects, as well as the spooky story which sees Abigail try to piece together the story of what happened to her family following her death and some of the other worldly characters you will meet along the way.
Developed by French developers the game will be available in both French and English and promises to put a new spin on the traditional point and click adventure game mechanics. As a spirit there will be no inventory and you will be able to pass through walls at your will. As well as this, Goetia promises a more sandbox approach to gameplay compared to the traditional linear style and says it will offer alternative methods to solving puzzles.
However, there is a still a long way to go for the KickStarter project which needs almost $13,000 to complete its funding and just a few weeks left with which to reach its goal. Hopefully if the demo is a success with consumers then it will easily reach this goal.
What are your thoughts on this project by Square Enix Collective? Would you play this point and click adventure title?
