The Sports Story tennis mode will be getting much more content than we might have expected: Sidebar Games has announced that a full Sports Story tennis career is being created for this upcoming game.

Sports Story is an upcoming game about sports... sort of. Much like its predecessor Golf Story, you will learn about and play sports while also engaging yourself in a bunch of silly side activities. Now, the developers have announced that we'll be getting even more content than expected at launch.

The Sports Story Tennis Mode Career, Explained

The Sports Story Tennis Mode career looks like it will be a significant expansion on Sidebar Games' original plans for the game, giving gamers even more content to look forward to.

"Some parts of the game unexpectedly grew quite large," Sidebar Games announced in a tweet (via Reddit). "The tennis part now has a full career that spans multiple zones. We decided we had no choice but to see it through, and look forward to sharing the results of our struggles. We think it was worth it."

"Your tennis journey begins on the unassuming but competitive babies court," the devs explained in a follow-up tweet. "The lessons you learn here will prepare you for the ruthlessness you'll face in tennis school."

The announcement of the Tennis Mode career is ironic, too; originally, Sports Story was going to be called Tennis Story, but it later expanded to include other sports such as soccer and baseball. Now, we've come full circle and are getting a full career mode for Tennis anyway.

When is the Sports Story Release Date?

Sadly, the Sports Story release date has not yet been announced. That said, it looks like we're getting close to an announcement according to Sidebar Games' recent tweets.

"Everything is coming together now," Sidebar Games added in another tweet. "Please look forward to more updates going forward, we have much to share!"

Sidebar Games has also kicked off a Golf Story sale on the Nintendo eShop; you can buy their previous game Golf Story on the Nintendo eShop for just $7.49, a 50% discount. You can also add Sports Story to your wishlist on the Nintendo eShop.

What do you think of a full Tennis Career being included with Sports Story? Do you think this expansion into other sports will give this game a leg up over Golf Story? Let us know in the comments below!
