Splatoon 3 Chill Season is coming, and with it comes some splat-tacular new modes and maps, and a big shoutout to the song artists who make their battles exciting and fun.
The addicting and explosive third-person shooter will be introducing a small but awesome new feature with its Chill Season update, set to release Thursday, December 1, 2022. Once players begin a match, in the lower right-hand side of the screen a little prompt will appear showing both the artist and the song title for the music playing during the battle. While this may seem like an odd thing to implement, it is huge for the artists that have allowed their music to stream in-game. It brings recognition to their name and music, while also allowing players to easily remember that song they may have found catchy as they slapped players around the battlefield.

The Chill Season update also brings new cards, and not just cards for new weapons being added within the update, but for pre-existing weapons as well. Speaking of weapons, there are 10 total that will be coming to the game, including a few from the previous games and a couple that have never been seen before. This includes a pencil-like weapon that can fire two rounds per full charge. There will also be two new stages coming to Splatoon 3 titled Flounder Heights (which was actually in a previous Splatoon game but is being brought back) and Brinewater Springs.
As if the maps and weapons weren't enough, we will also see new modes added to the game with this update, including X Battles and Big Run. The devs say Big Run mode is like the Salmon event, but bigger and better than ever. They do mention that even though this new game mode will be coming, the Salmonids are still set to invade and attempt to destroy Wahoo World later this year, so those who are fans of the event need not worry.
