Are you looking to get in touch with your wild side? Well good news, Spirit of the North is offering the chance. More importantly, its new trailer gives us some more gameplay and a release date.
The trailer opens up showing a fox wandering around some gorgeous snowy environments. Of course, it isn't long before the fox finds a magical ghost-ish fox and some mythical Nordic ruins. The rest of the trailer showcases the fox running around more environments, sliding down a water slide, finding lost and forgotten ghosts, and doing some platforming. It then ends showing that Spirit of the North will be launching on November 1st exclusively on the PlayStation 4.
The game is specifically made to be a "quiet adventure", and has no dialogue or real narrative. Instead, you're supposed to take in the world and learn what you can from it. You do have a goal though, as you and the ghostly fox that you find need to follow a mysterious red trail in the sky and see where it leads. In an older press release co-creator Tayler Christensen had the following to say:
The mellow pace of the game is intended to encourage players to slow down and ponder their environments. Only then can they come to understand their spirit companion and discover their own purpose in the mysteries of the past.
Developed by Infuse Studio, a two-man studio that is based in Raleigh, North Carolina, Spirit of the North is their first game and fits with the goal of trying to make games driven by visual storytelling.
Spirit of the North will be coming to PlayStation 4 on November 1st. Ports for PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch are planned "in the future".
