Assassin's Creed Odyssey is chock full of story potential, and Ubisoft is tapping into that power by putting it in the hands of the players.

Ubisoft revealed at E3 2019 today that Odyssey will be getting a story creator mode, that will be free for all players of the game. This new mode, which will launch in beta starting today, will allow players to create their own quests and storylines within the world of Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

According to Ubisoft, players will be able to use a toolset based on the vanilla games settings. The main features promised by Ubisoft include six different quest objectives found in Odyssey -from traveling to specific locations to assassinating targets- that can be mixed and matched in any order for the player's benefit.

Along with controlling quest objectives, players will also control the narrative of their storylines, including utilizing the branching dialogue system found in Odyssey, allowing for flexibility in not only narrative choices but also outcomes of what the player can do. Players will even have the power to add role-playing options, such as lying or attacking NPCs into the dialogue for further options.

Players will have access to hundreds of characters, both historical and fictional, at their disposal. This will allow them to recreate historical events, or make up their own storylines as they see fit with historical characters.

One major focus is to have accessibility for these created stories online for all players. So every created story will be cross-platform between the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions of the game. All that is required is to own a copy of Assassin's Creed Odyssey. To create these stories, players need to at least have access to a PC, as story creator mode will be web-based.

The beta for the story creator mode is available now.
