Space Engineers Update Adds Economy System and Content to Past DLCs

Space Engineers update 1.192 has been released by developer Keen Software House, and it is a substantial update to the game which implements a completely new economy system.

This Space Engineers update went out late last week, on August 22. According to a post from the developer on its blog, the update provides players with “brand new gameplay experiences giving a measurable value to what you create and how you spend your time in Space Engineers.”

The post lays out a list of the free update’s main features:

  • NPC Trading Stations; AI-controlled stores and contracts
  • Contracts: generated and player made
  • New Blocks: Store, Contracts, and Safe Zone
  • New items: Datapad, Zone Chip
  • Faction Reputation System
  • Ingame Currency: Space Credits
  • Player to Player Trading
  • Consumables: Medkit, Powerkit
  • New Admin Tools Features: trash cleaner, economy

Space Engineers DLC Information

The Space Engineers update is accompanied by the release of the Economy Deluxe Pack consisting of cosmetic items for players who “wish to support the further development of Space Engineers.” The pack is priced at $3.99 USD and is currently available on Steam.

The update also brought additions to existing DLCs. Owners of the Deluxe version of Space Engineers will get a new skin, new music track, and new concept art. Owners of the Decorative Pack will get three new decorations including an L shaped couch, a new toilet, and a new desk. Finally, owners of the Style Pack will get a retro suit, ghillie suit, wood armor skin, and moss armor skin, and the pack’s price will be adjusted to $3.99 USD.

 
 

A Keen Software House blog post also states that the update addressed a record amount of bugs and other issues.

An accompanying press release also announced a Space Engineers digital comic book, a first for the game. From artist Mike Hamlett and writer Jesse Baule, the digital comic will be available online for free very soon.
