The upcoming Soulslike roguelike The Legend of HyperStar is heading for a Steam Early Access release in June 2020. It looks like a pretty neat game on its own, but the game's design looks particularly impressive when you consider that it was made by one man.

As Niko Partners Senior Analyst Daniel Ahmad reports, this new game is the project of a single developer in China. At its face, it may look like a slightly anime-esque version of Breath of the Wild, but the gameplay is said to be much closer to that of Dark Souls in terms of its challenge. Mix in a dash of roguelike elements and you have the recipe for a rather intriguing game.

Although the developer of this upcoming title is based in China, it looks like a simultaneous bilingual release is being targeted for both English and Simplified Chinese. The English on the game's Steam Store page seems a little rough, but this title looks like it's more about the gameplay than anything else.

From what we can see, those of you who dive into this new adventure will have some tough, high-speed battles to take. There will be random events and plenty of opportunities to score new loot, and you're going to need it judging by how tough the combat appears to be. That said, losing a battle doesn't mean the end — you'll gain wealth and experience that can be used in a reincarnation.
