Soul Hackers 2 Collector's Edition

The expansive Megami Tensei series is planning a special release for its upcoming title. Called Souls Hackers 2, this RPG is scheduled to release this summer on August 26th. The game will be available for purchase and download on all major consoles except Nintendo Switch. Leading up to its release, a Collector's Edition of the game is being offered for $200. Despite this price, it is already at risk of selling out with no indication of when or if it will be restocked.

Soul Hackers 2 Collector's Edition

Though its name sets it apart, Soul Hackers 2 is the sequel to Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers which was originally released in 1997 by Atlus. Both are part of the Devil Summoner series which is better known as Megami Tensei. In preparation for this long-awaited sequel, several editions of the game are available for preorder. They include a Launch, Digital Deluxe, Digital Premium, and Collector's Editions. The last is proving to be a hot ticket item coming with a figurine, steel book case, a plushie, a pin collection, a USB soundtrack, a shark keychain, a branded box, and character art cards.

As part of the Devil Summoner series, Souls Hackers 2 has many elements of an RPG with supernatural elements. As an agent for an organization called Aion, players will be tasked to save humanity from an upcoming apocalypse. Through exploration, they'll encounter beings known as "demons" which are not exclusively depicted as evil. The main mechanic involves battling these demons and forming contracts with them through actions and items. These demons can then aid the player in battle or add their power to their character.

Soul Hackers 2 earned a lot of attention from its appearance at the Atlus Survey where the character Ringo provided personal responses based on viewer interaction. This contributed to the popularity of the Collector's Edition which may be long gone before it launches in August.
