Today Sony announced a new game during their State of Play.
While the trailer they showed was short, and not actual gameplay, it told most of what you needed to know: Sony was making a game based on the Predator movies. Four marines were heading out into a wooded forest, and being stalked by an invisible hunter. We then learned that it was called Predator: Hunting Grounds.
In a blog post on the PlayStation blog, we got to learn a little bit more about the game. Predator: Hunting Grounds will be developed by IllFonic, the developers behind the rather popular Friday the 13th game. They're doing so with a partnership with both Sony and Fox.
As for gameplay, it will be an asymmetrical online multiplayer game, pitting a predator against the marines. The marines, working as a team, will need to complete objectives such as taking out terrorists and recovering important items. Then one player will play as the predator itself, using invisibility, thermal vision, and special high tech weapons to stealthy stalk and kill the marines. There wasn't much mentioned beyond that, with the game still being early in development.
Predator: Hunting Grounds will be available on PlayStation 4 sometime in 2020. IllFonic has promised there will be more updates coming sometime in the near future.
